Sweatin’ For Sweater Kittens is a fun-filled day of activities, shopping, and learning – to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of your body (at any age), to provide more information on breast cancer and allow people to try different types of workouts. All proceeds will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

There will be several different exercise stations where guests can participate in 10 minute trial classes such as: Yoga, fitness programs for Mothers with babies, Pilates, low-impact cardio for Seniors, Jump Rope IT (Jump rope, mixed in with squats, push ups, lunges, plank) and much more! A three hour spinning bike Spin-A-Thon, and “competition” stations such as power lifting, a Zumbathon and tire flipping races ( just to compete for bragging rights and fun) will also be part of the event.

Vendors and other informational booths will be on site as well.

Caryn Axelrod, the organizer of the event, is a two and a half year breast cancer survivor. She has been working out and following a healthy diet for more than half of her life and wants to use her experience to encourage others to start taking care of their bodies. Caryn put together Sweatin’ For The Sweater Kittens to show how many options are out there, not just to get and stay fit, but also how fun and challenging it can be. “Although there isn’t anything today to completely prevent cancer, we can do enough to lessen our chances and to make it easier if you are faced with this life challenge.”

You may stop and think about the different people that have the most affect on your life, yet you may not always think of your dog. However, they may have more of an influence on your daily decisions than you think. The Art of Racing In The Rain is a touching story about how life can get tough but also be rewarding, from the prospective of an unlikely narrator.

Enzo narrates his life story, beginning with his impending death. Enzo’s not afraid of dying, as he’s seen a television documentary on the Mongolian belief that a good dog will reincarnate as a man. Yes, Enzo is a dog. And he belongs to Denny: husband, father, customer service technician. Enzo recounts the triumphs and tragedies- family, medical, financial, and legal-they share in this quest. Enzo ultimately teaches Denny and the reader that persistence and joie de vivre will see them through to the checkered flag.

You will laugh, cry, but most importantly, you will finish the book with a better prospective. An uplifting and touching story that all ages can enjoy.

We tried Tbar this past weekend and are now hooked on the “everything tea” shop. Located in Center City (117 S 12th St) Tbar is conveniently located in the middle of everything downtown.

An urban tea bar retreat where you can steep, shake or fizz it…tea, that is.
Currently, they offer over 100 different aromatic and wonderfully
infused steeped teas, a variety of tea lattes and pearls (aka bubble teas/boba),
and tea fizzes (tea & herbal based extracts stirred with a little bubbly to give
you a crisp, refreshing flavor or with hot water/green tea to give you a full-force tonic

We love how you can get you can get hot, iced or blended drinks here, not just the usual hot tea that most places serve. Hungry? They also have salads, paninis and small pastries.

The employee that made our drinks was very helpful and knowledgable about the varietty of teas and drink combinations that they offer. We tried the Safari hot tea and Power Plant fizz drink – both tasted great, made with quality ingredients and made at the time of order.

Check out the cafe menu and tea menu

Where: Tbar, 117 S 12th St
