Summer is right around the corner and we all want to look our best. You can’t restrict yourself from all the good stuff, so why not make desserts work with your healthy lifestyle.
These simple substitutions will cut down fat and calories while keeping your baked goods tasting just as delicious-
Cookies & Crusts:
Use: Half whole-wheat pastry flour and half all-purpose flour (whole wheat has 12g of fiber in every cup, which will keep you full and less likely to binge)
Not: Just all-purpose flour
Brownies, Chocolate Cake and Fudge:
Use: Three tablespoons of cocoa powder (peels off 85 calories and 13g of fat!)
Not: One ounce baking chocolate
Puddings and Pudding Pie Filling:
Use: 2% milk (slashes 700 calories per cup and still maintains a nice rich creamy body)
Not: Heavy Cream
Cheesecake:
Use: Part-skim ricotta cheese (You’ll double the amount of hunger fighting protein and cut fat by about 60g for each cup you use)
Not: Cream cheese
